INGREDIENTS
- 1 package Magnolias American Mixed Berry Dip Mix (dry)
- 4 Tbsp salted butter
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2/3 cup whole milk, at room temperature
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 cup fresh or frozen berries
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
- In a large mixing bowl combine eggs, milk, flour, salt, 2 Tbsp melted butter and the full package of American Mixed Berry Dip Mix. Whisk until completely smooth.
- Melt the remaining 2 Tbsp of butter in a 10 to 12 inch cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add your fresh or frozen berries and allow the butter to brown around the berries for about 3 minutes.
- Pour the batter into the hot skillet.
- Place the skillet in the center of the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until the Dutch baby is fully puffed and golden brown on top.
- DO NOT open the oven during the first 15 minutes of baking โ opening the door can deflate your Dutch baby before it sets!
- The moment it comes out of the oven, top with pats of butter and serve immediately drizzled with maple syrup or dusted with powdered sugar.
Serve straight from the skillet for maximum wow factor and watch it disappear! ๐ซโจ
TIPS FOR THE PERFECT DUTCH BABY
Room temperature eggs and milk matter. Cold ingredients can prevent the Dutch baby from puffing up properly, so pull them out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes before you start.
Cast iron is your best friend here. A cast iron skillet holds heat evenly and gives you that beautiful puffed edge that makes a Dutch baby so dramatic and gorgeous. Don't have one? A heavy oven-safe skillet will work too.
Serve immediately. Dutch babies deflate as they cool, which is completely normal, but you want to get it on the table right away for the most beautiful presentation.
Dress it up or keep it simple. Maple syrup and powdered sugar are classic, but fresh whipped cream, a drizzle of honey or a scoop of vanilla ice cream take this over the top for a dessert version.
